The Gift of Love – Gift to Ensure Marriage

Life is not that easy for young people. After graduating from the university, my boyfriend and I have been fighting for our future. Under the economic crisis, we feel it is harder than ever to survive in the cruel world.

What makes us happy is that we have decided to get married. We hope we can go through everything together. As the good day is drawing near, we are getting busy. The new house needs to be decorated, the feast needs to be arranged, the relatives and friends need to be informed. The wedding makes both of us frustrated. A lot of money has been spent. I begin to doubt whether it is a good idea to be married.

We went to buy a set of furniture one week ago. After that, we went home on foot. It was getting dark. I stopped when we were passing a jewelry shop. A new Tiffany ring was on show in the window. It was so gorgeous and so gleaming. I was totally attracted by its beauty. “How nice it would be if I wear it at my wedding ceremony!” I was thinking. But the cost drove me back into the real life. With the money, we could buy another set of furniture. I looked back at him, smiling: “The Tiffany ring looks good. I like it.” Then, we left the store.

Today is our good day. After being busy with the wedding, I’m very tired. What makes me even sadder is that I’m not sure if we should be married. At the wedding ceremony, he suddenly takes out a small jewelry box and opens it in front of everyone.

“The ring!” I cry out.

Yes, it is right the Tiffany ring I saw in the window. I didn’t know he was so attentive. He tells me he notices that I want it very much. So he bought it the next day and planned to give me a surprise at the wedding ceremony. What he doesn’t know is that the small ring has brought me confidence at the moment. He can feel what I feel, he can know what I really wanted, and he can do a lot for me. He is the one I’m going to marry. All unhappiness and doubt disappear immediately.

“Would you like to be married with the man and stay with him, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health, to honor and to cherish, forsaking all others, until death do you part?” The clergyman is asking.

“Yes, I do!”
